Canvas & Orchids Retreat

First Class Eco-Lodge

Introduction

Canvas & Orchids Retreat is a luxury boutique resort that floats on the beautifully remote Tatai River in the Koh Kong Conservation Corridor in South West Cambodia: Eco-tourism sure has come a long way!

Made up of a mixture of luxury tents on floating pontoons and new family Island tents, the retreat is at the forefront of Cambodia’s push to be a leader in luxury eco-tourism. In tune with its natural surrounding it offers a wonderful window into a disappearing world and a superb holiday experience.

Facilities

Everything revolves around the river and surrounding mangrove forests. Your tented pontoon has steps down into the river so you can enjoy a swim.

There are complimentary kayaks (wide and easy to use) so you can explore the main river and its mangrove lined tributaries. There are complimentary fishing rods so you can try and catch your dinner. If you’re not sure about anything don’t worry as the guides are wonderful, eager to help with energetic enthusiasm.

All the “rooms” are linked by a walkway that meets in the middle to form the main hospitality area with sun loungers, library (books & DVDs), bar and restaurant. The restaurant specialises in superb Khmer / French fusion cuisine. The resort also offers a choice of excursions, make sure you climb the Tatai Waterfall and one night watch the magical fireflies.

Rooms

Each tent sits on its individual pontoon with sun loungers and table & chairs overlooking the river and surrounding mangrove forests.

The rooms themselves are spacious luxury safari tents that offer a superb level of comfort with large bathroom, king size bed, ceiling fan, individual fans, large LCD TV and DVD player.

The island family tents are situated on the riverbank in a lush garden, some 5-10 meters from the river. At 65sqm, they are a more spacious and child-friendly version of the floating tents.

The spacious tented rooms are well ventillated. The two bedrooms are separated by a wall and curtain door, with a large en-suite brick-and-mortar- bathroom with a walk-in shower. The other facilities mirror those found on their floating cousins.
