Colombo Court Hotel & Spa

Grade - Boutique Medium Class

Overview

Not a standard cookie cutter city centre hotel, the Colombo Court Hotel & Spa can best be described as combining contemporary city living with an environmentally minded style. This is immediately evident as at reception you’re welcomed by a three-storey high sculpture of a tree made of metal and bicycle parts. Elsewhere Interiors are decorated with furniture, light fittings, and art using recycled materials. On a more prosaic level this boutique hotel is within easy reach of sights, restaurants and shops to offer a slightly more unusual base from which to enjoy this lively city.

Facilities

Continuing the theme the bar is highly styled creating talking points with sofas crafted from hospital beds and tractor seat bar stools. There are a choice of restaurants including roof terrace that offer Sri Lankan specialities and western favourites. The rooftop terrace often has live music at weekends. There’s a good size pool with loungers and the poolside spa offers a range of treatments. Additional facilities include a library and small business centre.

Rooms

32 rooms and suites but no two are alike; All are en-suite with king size beds, air-conditioning, overhead fan, mini-bar, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, tea/coffee facility, safe and work desk.

Maniumpathy

Grade - Boutique First Class

Overview

When in Colombo it’s worth seeking out a quiet corner to call home and the historic Maniumpathy is one of the best, offering just 8 luxurious rooms set around a peaceful courtyard in a former colonial home in one of the city’s most fashionable residential districts. Whether at the beginning or end of your Sri Lanka tour, a stay here can only add to your holiday as the feeling of “home” trumps that of “hotel”.

Facilities

The scene is set as you enter via the beautiful dining room with tiled floor and colonial affectations. At the heart of the hotel is the central courtyard where meals are served looking out over the tropical walled garden and small pool with sun loungers. There is also a library / TV room. Although you’re in one of the smarter residential areas dinner here is hard to beat, both for the atmosphere and quality of food, especially the eponymous Sri Lanka rice & curry.

Rooms

All rooms look out into the courtyard and are stylishly furnished with high quality linen and fabrics, but each is slightly different, with some offering a private garden, extra space, balcony or partial open air bathroom. There are ceiling fans above each bed, along with air-conditioning, a minibar, sound dock, safe, satellite tv and complimentary water.
